If You're Over 30-Years Old and Train BJJ, Then This Message is For You...

If you’re a BJJ practitioner over 30 years old who wants a BJJ style that is designed for an older grappler, uses less cardio and doesn’t rely on youthful attributes to be effective then this will be 1 of the most exciting messages for your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Read this and see if you relate. . .

When I was a young 18 year old White Belt in BJJ, I remember some of the older guys saying. .

“Your body just feels different as you get older.”

They’d go on to talk about slow recovery, aching joints and a gas tank that hit “E” pretty quick during a hard roll.

At the time I fresh out of highschool and had all of the naivety that comes with being a 18 year old with little life experience. So I just shrugged it off. Maybe their bodies felt bad but I was different! I was going to eat well, take care of my bucket’O’bones and I’d be fine. Like all 18 year old men without a fully formed prefrontal cortex, I felt like I was gonna live forever, or to put it simply I was functionally stupid.

Because Father Time remains undefeated and I eventually hit 30, then 35 and then 40. And around each interval the words of my old training partners came back to laugh at me because. . .

My body sure as hell felt different!

I felt different in competitions, different during rolling. I got tired faster. My recovery slowed down and I needed more rest days.

The analogy I like to use is that my body felt like an old car that started having issues.

It started making some weird noises, the check engine light popped on, the door rattles when you close it and you have to check the oil every few days.

Maybe you’re an older grappler who feels the same way?

Well, if you’re like me and were born back in the 1900s when dinosaurs roamed the earth, people talked on corded phones and rented movies on Friday nights, there’s still hope for you and your training!

I’m going to lay out how you can tailor your BJJ to your older body and still be effective on the mats.

How I discovered my "old man" grappling game. . .

Back in early 2022 I started developing my “old man” game for BJJ.

I started because I noticed I was losing a step when it came to cardio and speed, even when I was in shape!

Especially when I rolled with my young up-and-comers.

So, I started asked myself 1 simple question.

"When I get tired, what position do I default to?"

With guard passing, my answer was chest-to-chest in top half guard.

For instance, in 2021 I competed at No Gi Worlds less than a month after having covid and my lungs felt like hot garbage. In each match I was sucking wind almost immediately and got to chest-to-chest as soon as I could to slow the action down. Luckily, I managed to snag a 3rd place medal and the next year I used the same position to win 1st place. And over the last 3+ years I’ve been developing this “old man” passing game even more.

One of the core ideas of this “old man” style is to get my opponent into a position where they’re movement is limited, and they’re forced to use more energy than me.

Chest-to-chest is perfect for this. The bottom person is at a positional disadvantage, they’re having to support your weight, they’re breathing is restricted and they have to use a good deal of energy to fight back to a more defensible position. All of this is perfect for wearing someone down!

This is why it's become 1 my goto positions for hard rolls with young athletic people, competitions and seminars where I might roll with 15-30 people with no break and have to conserve energy. I can use it to wear people down without having to exhaust myself.

Learning how to pass this way changed my BJJ and reignited my enjoyment of BJJ.

Maybe you relate, but it sucks feeling like you’re becoming less effective just because you had to blow out another round of birthday candles. This style of passing hasn’t completely eliminated that (again, Father Time is undefeated) but it’s giving me a game that requires less speed, cardio and energy and helped me stay competitive with the younger crowd.

And I know there are lots of other older grapplers like me.

And this is why I created my Flow & Controlled program and why I'm excited to share it with you.

INTRODUCING

Flow & Controlled

Over the past several years I've been refining this slower guard passing approach to suit my BJJ in my 40s and beyond. I've use it successful in the gym and high-level competition against other Black Belts and I'm excited to finally share it with you!

This new series will teach you a slow & efficient style of guard passing that works amazing for older grapplers (and anyone who wants to be more efficient)

Harness the Slower "Cook-then-Kill" approach every older grapplers needs!

As an older grappler you can't get into crazy scrambling matches with people half your age! It's a losing battle. You have to focus on using connection and intentional positioning to put the brakes on your opponents.

Join Flow & Controlled today and I'll show you how it's done.

Join Flow & Controlled

Here's a quick peek at what's waiting for you inside:

  • You’ll learn 1 of the absolute best ways to pass the guard without being exhausted from it.
  • How to become the old grappler that can hang on the mat with everyone instead of the one everyone feels sorry for.
  • How to develop the ability to decimate your opponent’s will to fight in a competition. You’ll feel their body wither away as you apply intentional and relentless pressure.
  • How to use submissions as incredible control positions, not just the submission themself (There’s a lot of excellent positions in BJJ that won’t score you points in a match but take the fight out of your opponent like no other!).
  • Why the “Cook & Kill” approach is a must-have for older grapplers (This is done by using specific positions that limit movement, place your opponent into a position where they have to use muscle to defend and cause them to burn up energy. Hence, wear them out. . .cook them. . . then go for the finish.
  • You might even gain a new lease on BJJ! (A lot of older grapplers join BJJ to gain a new perspective and a sort of new lease on their life. But then they get smashed, injured and feel isolated. You’ll bypass this uncomfortable fate by making improvements and gaining skill.)
  • Breakdowns of what this looks like during rolling and matches. (These breakdowns will show you what the system looks like against different guard styles and ages.)
  • An timeless style of BJJ that works at any level from White to Black Belt. (No hyperbole here! Just good ole "advanced basics" at work. Fundamental BJJ that stands up against any trend that comes and will serve you for years to come.)
  • How to make your opponent more tired by giving up position. (There are strategic ways to “give up” position so that it puts your opponent in a more vulnerable spot. Many times, we hold on for dear life when someone is trying to escape. I’ll teach you how to make retreats at specific points cause your opponent to expose their arms, neck and body. This is important for older grapplers who will need to concede position at times instead of getting into a crazy scrambling battle.)
  • A proven method to make mount one of your best positions! (Using mount like I show in the Flow & Controlled series can radically change your mount position. Mount should be a bread & butter position for older grapplers. But for many they struggle to use it. I'll show you a proven method for dominating with mount.)
  • You'll learn how to get the most from a limited gas tank. (As you get older you just have less energy, recovery and cardiovascular output. In the course you’ll learn how to maximize all of this to get the most from yourself.)
  • You’ll gain an effective style of passing that’s simple enough that you can begin implementing it the same day you watch the instructional. (The course and style I teach inside is broken down into small chunks with clear goals that you can spend less time watching and more time practicing in the gym.)
  • I'll expose you to the critical weakness 90% of BJJ practitioners have. (This common weakness means they have a glaring hole waiting to be exploited. Surprisingly, most coaches encourage training in such a way that it only furthers this weakness. You probably have this weakness too. . .)
  • How to develop a clear direction with your top game with an effective style of BJJ. (If you have that lost feeling with your BJJ and don't know which way you're going right now, the course will give you clarity with a clear roadmap to follow to improve.)

All of this will give you the ability to:

Now, I do have 1 word of caution about this style of guard passing. . .

Alright, so I'm singing the praises of my “Old Man” guard passing game.

But I do have 1 word of caution about this style of guard passing. . .

It requires patience!

It’s a slow cooker, not a microwave.

You can't get in a hurry, otherwise you can turn even a slow methodical BJJ style into an exhausting scramble just by being impatient. It will also take patience as you implement it into your game. But don't worry, I've have a whole implementation guide (more on that in a second).

Going back to patience. With this style, if it’s a 6 minute round or match you might spend 4+ minutes just “cooking” your opponent before you pass. The idea is to use well placed pressure, positioning and let your body weight do the bulk of the work for you, then you go in for the kill once your opponent is tired.

So, yeah, it’s not quick and you have to be patient. But that’s an advantage us older folks have over our younger counterparts, isn’t it? We’re usually more patient.

Also, to be completely honest with you. . . what choice do you have? Either become patient, efficient and remain competitive or gas out against someone half your age. Your choice

This brings me to a concept to cling to as a 30+ year old grappler that lurks in the Master’s divisions.

You must embrace the mindset of “Cook Then Kill”.

This approach to BJJ should become an overarching principle that guides your grappling. You need to be on the lookout for techniques, positions and approaches that allow you to wear down your opponent with position and control.

A principle that lines up perfectly with this is the need for unevenly applied pressure.

What do I mean by this?

Well, most people just flop their weight on top of someone with very little thought. If they want to add more pressure, they either squeeze their arms together (bad idea) or they visit the buffet line to get heavier (again, there’s better ways to do it).

But when you understand how to apply uneven pressure you can make 160lbs feel like 260lbs. You can also pin the person with more control than you would if you were just laying on them with no intention.

It’s a simple concept but just like most BJJ, it has to be “felt” to truly understand and if you’d like to get started with feeling it, then my Flow & Controlled program is definitely going to help you.

A quick word about the group coaching element of this package.

I've run several successful group coaching programs where people get real results in a relatively short period of time. My goal here is to get you focused and dialed in with your game, so you have direction.

You'll be able to communicate with me directly via chat in the members area and through the video calls.

Interested? Here's What To Do Next. . .

All together the value of the Silver Medal Package is $224 and the Gold Medal Package is $571

You might think these numbers are crazy, but consider this. . .

Every week I have people paying me for a private 1-on-1 lesson that starts at $300.

I also have people who pay me for 1-on-1 coaching via zoom where we chat directly and line out a plan for their game, this starts at $150. If you were a student who wanted to learn this from me, you'd pay $150 at my gym per month, or $80-$100+ to take part in a seminar.

But for the early launch you can snag the 2 packages for either

$77 or $147 (both of which are well past 50% off).

Why would I do that?

Simple. Because you’re a part of my email list, a subscriber on YouTube, Facebook or Instagram. This is the early launch and as 1 of my more close followers I want to give you the hookup!

Also, to be completely honest, I think you’ll love the series and I believe it will help you change your game and so I’m willing to throw it out there to you at a nice discount for this early launch period.

With all of that said, this is a limited offer. And after July 13th, 2025 at 11:59pm EDT the price goes up following the official 2nd launch.

But Here's The Real Question to Ask

If all this program did was allow you to be more competitive during rolling, have more direction in your Jiu-Jitsu and help you avoid injuries from scrambling. . . would it be worth it?

If all this program did was reignite your passion and enjoyment of BJJ while, giving you the ability to use position and pressure to be more efficient on the mats , wouldn't it be worth it?

I've personally spent thousands of hours dedicated to this approach to BJJ. So I do.

But the answer for today is up to you to decide.

The TLDR Version

In case you struggle with the pesky task of reading words. . .

I'm just messing with ya. I skim sometimes too.

Anyway, here's the deal.

I'm currently releasing my new Flow & Controlled guard passing and top pressure program which will teach you how to develop a slow, methodical and efficient guard passing and top game if you're an older or middle-aged grappler, like me, who doesn't want to be at the whim of their aging cardio.

It comes in 2 packages (choose whichever one you'd like). Both are available at well over 50% off their normal value. Be sure to pay close attention to the bonuses and decide which option is best for you.

The Gold Medal Package offers group coaching and direct access to me. So if you struggle to stay focused or accountable, consider that option as I'll be with you over the 1st 30 days to coach you through the most difficult part. . . getting started!

The 2nd launch ends July, 13 2025 at 11:59pm.

After that, some of the bonuses (like coaching) go away and the price goes up.

The program is designed specifically for middle-aged and older grapplers who want to be more efficient on the mats with guard passing and top pressure.

This is done by using just a couple of positions, a couple of passes and a big emphasis on proper hand-fighting and position which forces people to play in the specific positions you want where they’re at a disadvantage. Many of my students (young and old) use this style.

What I’ve tried to do is tailor it towards us older grapplers to make it as simple as possible but still brutally efficient and effective. Because let's be completely honest. As you get older you have less and less free time to just sit around and learn endless moves.

Hell, most of us (even me at times) have to fight hard to carve out training time for ourselves.

So, I’ve broken it down into the simplest fashion I can think of and provided an entire implementation guide to help you have clear objectives on how to best add this style into your BJJ bit-by-bit. I'm very excited about and I truly believe that if you follow the program, you'll be amazed at what you can do with you BJJ.

Alright, I appreciate your time. Whether you get Flow & Controlled or not I hope this message got you to think about developing your own "old man" or "old woman" grappling style.

Chat with you next time!
